The ‘Hot Hub’ and ‘Drive Thru Assessment’ are new GP services set up to help the NHS assess and look after residents of Littlehampton, Rustington, Angmering and East Preston who may be suffering from Covid-19.
Both services will run from the existing Littlehampton Health Centre site, and will be staffed by GPs, nurses, paramedics, healthcare assistants and receptionists from the five local practices. They will serve acutely-ill patients who do not need a 999 ambulance, where all “remote” options (those that are not face-to-face) to manage the conditions have already been exhausted.
People who contact NHS 111 or their own GP will fall into one of 3 categories:
- Most people, with fairly mild symptoms, will be given advice by 111 or their GP;
- Some, with severe symptoms, will have immediate admission to hospital arranged by 111 or their GP;
- Some will be difficult to assess over the phone and will be invited to go to either the Hot Hub or Drive Thru in Littlehampton where a local GP or nurse will assess them and decide how best to manage their symptoms.
Patients are still advised to use 111 online advice first, if they are concerned about their symptoms. Staff at 111 online will then advise on what next steps people should take.
The Hot Hub and Drive Thru are not walk-in centres and attendance is strictly by appointment only.
You can only attend if referred by your GP.
You will not be tested for Coronavirus.
